Mr. Wojdynski's photograph "Tree House" is the Second Place Winner in the 2013 Will Grossman Memorial Photo Competition.

Although Chapel Hill, North Carolina has been Wojtek Wojdynski’s home for the last 20 years, he began his photographic journey as a teenager in Warsaw, Poland.  At 12 he began spending time in a darkroom at one of Warsaw’s art centers. When he was 16, Wojdynski build his first darkroom.   After completing a master’s degree at Warsaw’s Polytechnic Institute, Wojdynski put his photographic dreams on hold and redirected himself for a career as an electrical engineer, which brought him and his family to the U.S. in 1981.

After twenty years of keeping his interests on the back burner, Wojdynski was able to realize his dream and make photography his full-time occupation in 2000.
Digital technology, the new era in photography and revival of black and white photography allowed Wojdynski to merge his technological expertise with his photographer’s eye for detail.  His black and white photographs quickly gained a reputation for their unusually rich tones and smooth tonal transitions.  He honed his craft by studying studied with such masters as Eikoh Hosoe, Platon, and Connie Imboden.  Wojdynski’s figurative studies, which comprise a significant volume of his work, benefit from this especially.  One of his landscape nudes, The Ridge, received third-place honors in the Nude category at the 2008 Spider Awards. 

Wojdynski’s original work has shown at, Frank Gallery in Chapel Hill, NC, Green Hill Gallery in Greensboro, NC as well as Through This Lens Gallery in Durham, NC.
An expert on color management, Wojdynski has served as art editor and overseen printing for three major photography shows in Toronto.  He has taught digital printing and PhotoShop workshops at North Carolina Central University, and conducted one-on-one and small-group training workshops with photographers from across the country.
